Sir James Doille, ein Schotte von der Universit\u00e4t Oxford, erfand 1893 den Vakuum-Isolierbecher. Er stellte eine Flasche in die andere und zog dann die Luft aus dem Spalt in der Mitte der beiden Flaschen ab. Da das Vakuum keine W\u00e4rme \u00fcbertr\u00e4gt, bleibt das hei\u00dfe oder kalte Wasser im Thermosbecher lange Zeit auf seiner urspr\u00fcnglichen Temperatur.<\/p>\n

In den 1950er Jahren erreichte der Absatz des Thermosbechers seinen H\u00f6hepunkt, und bei Familienpicknicks, Wanderungen am Meer und beim Camping in der freien Natur wurde der Thermosbecher mitgef\u00fchrt.<\/p>\n
